In this episode of Ambit Energy's Ambitious 50, we interviewed Multiple Five Start Trip Award Winner, Millionaire Club Member, Top 30 Income Earner and Executive Consultant Richard Amoedo.

Golden Nuggets:
Your habits are going to shape your outcome
Do you want to me to make all of the money, or would you like to make some too?
Be willing to be interrupted
GOD, who can I go help today?
There was a little bit of pain
It’s okay to have people contribute to me
Permission to point things out
Pick the company you want to have problems with
You sponsor their whole life
Get them to the next exposure

A Quest For Better Quality of Life
“Our goal, our focus,” Richard says, “is to improve people’s quality of life. Money does that, but great people do that quicker. We ask ourselves, ‘How are we going to make a difference in people’s lives?’”

Part of the answer comes by way of the example set by some Ambit Energy field leaders. “[NC] Steve Thompson, [EC] Chris Atkinson and [EC] Kenny Smith have all come to visit me in the hospital. [NC] Carlos Marin has called many times,” Mary relates. “And none of these guys are in our organization! It speaks volumes about the culture of our company.”

Richard and Mary joined Ambit after saying “no” many times to their friend and now sponsor, NC Terri Hammack. Mary remembers, “She saw us working 60 and 70 hours a week in our mortgage business, which had recently quadrupled in income. We were traveling all over the country and had no time for our two kids. Terri wanted a better quality of life for us.” Finally, Terri got Richard and Mary signed up. They “laid dormant” for six months, when one day they got a check for $334 in the mail.

In this episode of Ambit Energy's Ambitious 50, we interviewed Five Start Trip Award Winner, Pure Energy Award Winner and Executive Consultant Pat Flander.

Golden Nuggets:
Like Excel but on steroids
Don’t go out to do this business, do this business when you are out.
Seek advice from those you want to be like
You always have what you need, you just may not always have what you want
Free Energy is the start
TV will get you nowhere
Smiling in the morning

Every Ambit Energy Consultant has their “WHY” – the main reason that they start their own business and strive for success.

Patrick Flander used to work two jobs, with a full-time position “working long hours” as an administrator for a road construction company and a part-time career as a professional disc jockey on weekends. Life was, he admits, “extremely busy.”

And then the resident of St. Johnsville, New York, found not just one “WHY” – but two.

In January 2010, Patrick’s boss called him to let him know that “the company was re-organizing and my job could be in jeopardy.” And a few months later, his older brother – who had made many sacrifices on Patrick’s behalf while they were growing up – told him that his wife was going to need brain surgery.

“When he came to me, I thought about Ambit – which I had recently been introduced to,” recalls Patrick. “I knew that I could go to work and help.”

PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF
“It was my neighbor and long-time friend who told me about Ambit,” says Patrick. “Over a couple months, he stayed in contact with me two or three times a week – following up to see if I had checked out his website. He’d invite me to his house and offer to take me to a presentation.”

“But one day he came to my house as I was getting home from work, and he asked me ‘for a favor’ – to go with him to a Business Presentation and take a look, then get a drink. I agreed because I figured the phone calls and invitations would stop. Or so I thought!”

Patrick and his friend went to see a presentation by National Consultant Ray Montie, and “it all made sense to me.” He realized that he could make additional money with a service – “a necessity of life” – and not a product.

He did his research, calling the New York State Public Service Commission and inquiring about energy deregulation. And he remembered a college professor who had demonstrated how network marketing could be successful.

“So I started my business on April 2, 2009, and the journey began!”

A ROUGH START
Patrick saw all the benefits of being an Ambit Consultant – realizing that it wasn’t asking people to change their buying habits or spend extra money, and that the timing was perfect.

“The idea that this was going to happen, with or without me, kept me up at night,” he says.

But at the beginning, Patrick was not well-received in his community among his family, friends and co-workers. “I went about introducing the Opportunity the wrong way. People were uninformed, and many told me that it wouldn’t work.”

“I still have friends that won’t take the time to look at Ambit or become my customer. But I was presenting the service my way, and not the Ambit way. I couldn’t get anyone to a presentation and got all kinds of rejection.”

His dad became his first customer, though, and a few friends and neighbors signed on as customers – and Patrick started to receive his first commissions.

“But my sponsor Wayne Lynch, Kirk Horan and Ray Montie challenged me to get plugged in and try it their way,” says Patrick. “And it was when I heard NC Brian McClure state that ‘you need to understand before you can be understood’ that I knew I needed to become a student. And then my business started to grow and I began to promote.”

THE MOTIVATION THAT DRIVES HIM
Although he started his Ambit business “extremely part-time” – three to five hours a week – Patrick also kept in mind some words of wisdom from EC Mike O’Bay: “We don’t’ go out to do Ambit – we do Ambit while we are out.”

Patrick attended weekly meetings and started to find more time for his business – and his commissions began to increase while his team grew as well. “I put forth a consistent ten to twelve hours, and was continually educating myself. It was right around that time that I got that call from my boss and soon after, heard about my sister-in-law’s medical needs.”

He took his desire to help his family as motivation to work his Ambit business more and more. “I couldn’t do everything, but a consistent, part-time commitment allowed me to give back and help out. Because Ambit was my vehicle, my niece and nephew still have their college savings – and it was incredibly gratifying to be able to give back to my brother during trying times.”

Then, in March 2011, Patrick’s employer of 16 years told him he was being let go because his position was no longer needed. “I was proud to inform them that the ‘energy thing’ they told me ‘wasn’t legitimate’ and ‘wouldn’t work’ now paid all my monthly bills – and that I made more money last year with my part-time energy business than I did with them after more than a decade and a half.”

He proudly explained to his now-former boss that he had become an Executive Consultant with the fastest-growing private company in North America – “according to a magazine that my boss subscribed to” – Inc. magazine. “In the words of the Rolling Stones, ‘you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need,’” claims Patrick – revealing his music-loving DJ side. “I may not have the largest business in Ambit, and I haven’t reached all my goals. But in 19 months with a consistent, part-time effort, I reached my financial freedom number.”

“So now I’m full-time with Ambit, and I’m very appreciative, thankful and blessed to have what I need.”

ALL ABOUT PEOPLE
Patrick believes that the best way he gets paid “is with the relationships that I’ve built with positive people that I’m meeting. I understand that the only way that I have success is by helping others have success.”

“I have great people on my team, and couldn’t have reached this level without their efforts and successes.”

Although he has achieved the Executive Consultant level, Patrick asserts that “it’s not all about the money – it’s about helping others and changing lives. It becomes more than riches when you’re approached by someone that thanks you because our business saved their home from repossession.”

Despite all the complications in his life, Patrick is confident that both his upline and his own team have helped him overcome these challenges and find his path in life. “Because of Ambit, my family and my future family will be free of financial worries.”

LOOKING AHEAD
Down the road, Patrick looks forward to becoming a National Consultant, “getting that yellow coat” and spending all the time he can with his family.

“I’m going to keep my end results in mind, but also enjoy the ride by helping others along the way,” he says. “I see myself learning more, becoming a better leader, and passing it on as we all grow our businesses.”

His best advice: “Keep it simple.” Regardless of education or past experiences, Patrick believes that becoming a student of the business is essential to success. “The best thing that happened to me was failing in the beginning – because it helped me understand that I needed the proper training, which finally led to success.”

“With all the times of challenge and frustration, I wanted to quit more than once. But I’m glad I made the right choice by not walking away. It takes perseverance, persistence and passion to make it happen!”

“AMBITION MADE ME BELIEVE”
Patrick remembers his first AMBITION – he attended the 2009 event as a Senior Consultant. “By attending AMBITION, it became real to me – what was before me, and that I needed to become more a part of it. I remember saying ‘that’s great for some of these people having all that success – but successes like that don’t happen to me.’”

“Well, if you think that way, then it won’t. But hearing the co-founders speak helped me develop focus. And spending time with Ray Montie helped me find my path. I would not have attained that support if I didn’t go to Dallas.”

“AMBITION made me believe.”

At that first AMBITION, Patrick was grateful to discover that Ambit’s co-founders “care about me – and all of us,” and that “the corporate office in Dallas is full of people that work tirelessly to make this possible.”

And at AMBITION 2010, he took one word home with him from Chris Chambless’ speech: “EPIC.”

“Every morning, I wake up and start repeating my new motto: ‘EPIC,’” says Patrick. “Had I not been at AMBITION, I wouldn’t have felt what I re-live every morning – one word, one choice, one answer. I want to be a part of something EPIC with Ambit.”

“When I get going each day, whether I’m on the phone or going to help someone on my team or driving to Pennsylvania – none of this happens if I’m not there for AMBITION. It’s a ‘must’ to attend. You can’t explain it, you just have to experience it for yourself.”

And that’s coming from someone who has truly grown from his entire Ambit journey. Starting as a struggling new Consultant with two “WHYs,” and now as an Executive Consultant striving for “EPIC” success, Patrick Flander is truly an Ambit success story.

In this episode of Ambit Energy's Ambitious 50, we interviewed Five Start Trip Award Winner, Pure Energy Award Winner and Executive Consultant Sherell Slaise.

Golden Nuggets:
Time is the great equalizer
They are scared or uncertain about the opportunity
Whatever it takes program
There are only five objections
$600.00 was a magic number

AS I BECOME A BETTER ME, I ATTRACT BETTER PEOPLE
Could be the biggest financial mistake you have ever made
Having control of my time – to do what I want when I want – is living the life of my dreams. I was seeking time freedom.

Upon graduating from Clark Atlanta University (and studying International Business at University College of Belize in Central America), I began a corporate career as a Health Care Management Consultant for one of, at the time named, the “Big 6” consulting firms. It was a stressful and very intense job billing the client 80+ hours per week while traveling 100% of the time. After 4 years of this, I grew tired and resigned.

Additionally – I had no interest to pursue a Masters Degree which was preferred by the Firm to “rank advance” and earn top income. During this same time period, my mother died after losing a 2 year battle to cancer. Mom’s death left a lasting impression on me which was to value time and have a passive income stream in case of illness/disability. From this day forward, my career path changed forever.

Next, I accepted a non-traveling job for the largest health care insurer in America. Here I climbed the corporate ladder each time earning more income. Still, my spirit was unsettled because I work 70+ hours each week, stressed and bankrupt with time. I was over it! I was completely fed up with traditional work options. I was 28 years old and I was in a matrix where trading time for money was the norm; if this were to continue my time would eventually bankrupt if I wanted more income. There are only 24 hours in a day and I had already maxed out 20 hours of the day between 8 hours of sleep and 12 hours of work! I knew I couldn’t work like this forever. It wanted to LIVE!

I was conflicted because I wanted MORE income and I needed MORE time. So, I searched for a better way!

In 2007, I completed my corporate career and co-founded a real estate business. I wanted control of my life…control of my time! Quickly I learned the power of building a network – if we recruited agents that worked for the company, developed systems to support them, I could achieve passive income through their productivity and growth. This was my first introduction to leveraged income. Unfortunately, this business model did not last long for the company because the real estate industry is not recession proof! In 2009, all of our agents left the real estate industry and got full time jobs.

This left my business partner and I to run the business and do the day-to-day revenue generation. This was familiar – I was back to trading my time for money again! This increasingly became difficult for me personally because I met my husband Rahim during this time and we began building a family that soon demanded my time as well. I was back in the saddle, different horse. This time it was Sole Proprietorship!

It was during this time the Network Marketing Industry came to my rescue! My father had been requesting me to watch an "opportunity video" for Ambit Energy for almost a year. I wouldn’t make time to watch it. My excuse – too busy with my current business that was bankrupting my time. In retrospect, it’s funny to think about how busy I was in my company that I was unwilling to look at an opportunity that would be the answer to my busy schedule.

The Ambit Energy business opportunity made so much sense!…(1) It’s a part-time business that I could build at home, (2) it utilizes a network of like-minded people that use a proven system that will pay me leveraged income, (3) it promises to pay residual income on a utility service that EVERYONE is already using, and (4) nothing changes for the customer so I wouldn’t have to sell anything. This made TOTAL sense! Rahim and I had just given birth to our first born son and was 9 months pregnant with our second son. I had no vision or passion to run around the streets of Chicago showing homes with two infants in my arms. So I invested in Ambit Energy!

I dug both feet into my new home business and began building it part-time (a couple hours a week). In 6 weeks, I promoted to the first leadership level as Regional Consultant and promoted again to Senior Consultant. It is now 3 years later and I am a proud Network Marketing Professional leading, inspiring, and training other leaders in this profession.

It’s really true that if you are consistent and persistent over a period of time, you can receive recession-proof residual income with Ambit Energy. In just 3 years, we have free electricity and gas in our home and we’ve never missed receiving a monthly residual income check since we’ve started the business. The residual money keeps coming every month and continues to increase. Why? Because it’s based on an essential service that everyone uses.

Ambit Energy is changing my life and it continues to bless our family. My husband (Rahim), makes periodic public appearances at business events; as my business partner he prefers to watch our three beautiful children (Carter – 5, Parker – 3, Tandrea -1) while mommy builds the business. We are in this together and our focus is to find leaders that want to grow, learn and excel in this business.

In this episode of Ambit Energy's Ambitious 50, we interviewed National Consultants Cesar & Sonia Baffoni

Golden Nuggets:
MLMs are for people that can’t find a job
Trips to Colombia every month
Sell to the mind, not the people
No. No. No. – Do it. Do it. Do it.
Try the service, not CHANGE
Company made me a different person

Cesar Baffoni was a successful professional in his home country of Colombia. After studying mechanical engineering in the city of Cali, he went to work for Carvajal, S.A. – one of the largest companies in the country.

But due to safety concerns in Colombia, Cesar emigrated to the United States in 1994. Upon his arrival, he went to work at a major membership warehouse club retail chain in Staten Island, New York – where he currently serves as a Merchandise Supervisor.

With his wife and three daughters, Cesar wasn’t actively searching for another source of income – and it was a very random experience that led him to Ambit.

MORE INTERESTED IN PAELLA
He had just returned from a vacation in Colombia, and went to pick up his daughter’s car at his friend Alvaro Cardona’s house.

“When I called him to pick up the car, he asked me to take my electricity bill,” recalls Cesar. “He showed me a video, but I didn’t pay much attention. I was focused on the paella that his wife was cooking!”

Cesar admits that he registered as a Consultant “more out of friendship than for the business itself.”

GETTING SERIOUS
Having his own business had never really occurred to Cesar.

“At the beginning, I didn’t seriously work it – because as they say, ‘it looked too good to be true,’” he remembers. “It was only when I listened to Ray Montie here in Staten Island that I realized I was sitting on a gold mine!”

But Cesar’s family and friends weren’t so eager to believe. “Nobody believed me, and nobody could see what I could see. I would invite my friends and family to dinner and they would hesitate when I asked to see their bill.”

SEEING RESULTS
“I really only saw the opportunity of making additional income,” says Cesar. “And during the first year, I didn’t get the results that I expected.”

But that all changed when he made the decision to be more committed to his business.

“Even though I still work Ambit part time, in 2010 I dedicated myself to building my business. My strategy was to motivate all of my Regional Consultants to attend AMBITION 2010 – and that was a total success. All of them started to grow their businesses, and that was the major reason that I was able to reach Executive Consultant status!”

“I want to go full time as soon as possible. And my family, friends and co-workers can’t believe it. Now they’re all more interested in learning about the business!”

PERSONAL AND TEAM SUCCESS
Cesar believes that Ambit is helping him in other ways than financially, too. “For example, I don’t watch TV any more. I read more, especially books that are helping me grow as a person and help me grow my business. And now I talk with more people regarding the Ambit Opportunity who I never would have met before.”

“But most of all, I’m working to improve my English,” he admits. “And of course, I’m looking forward to quitting my job and working Ambit full time!”

He knows that the key to success is his team. “My goal with Ambit is to be an Executive Consultant who empowers many others in the business.”

Cesar is very proud of his organization, which is “made up of successful men and women who are doing a phenomenal job.” He’s especially pleased that he has several working moms, striving toward the goal of financial freedom.

LOOKING AHEAD
“When I think of the future, I foresee marvelous things,” says Cesar. “Financial freedom is one of them, but the most important thing I see is the power to transform many lives through Ambit.”

And he is always excited to share his fondness for Ambit with new Consultants. “First of all, believe 100% in the company – do not doubt for a moment its honesty and integrity.”

“Second, follow the system. Buy the books and materials in the Ambit store, so you can have all the knowledge you need about the business. And definitely attend all the events and training sessions.”

“And don’t miss Ambition for any reason – that event will transform your lives!”

Golden Nuggets:
Practice makes permanent
Lost everything TWICE
You only have so many 10 year increments
Busy person's business
Nobody can beat free

Marc and Christina Alfano both came from families of entrepreneurs and knew that they would follow in their families footsteps, especially Marc’s mom who also worked in network marketing.

Around the same time changes in the economy caused them to lose their restaurant, Marc and Christina found out they were unable to have children, they spend several years moving frequently. Things started to turn around when they received an opportunity to be a personal chef for country singer, Kenny Chesney. While working for him an impromptu visit from a friend led to an offer from Heinen’s Fine Foods. Heinen’s wanted 17 of their stores stocked with Marc and Christina’s prized tiramisu and they quickly launched Christina Maria’s Tiramisu.

Marc and Christina were impressed by their first meeting. “I was totally impressed with the transparency of Jim Mason. He made me dream again,” Marc said. But, there was one thing missing. Why were theystarting another business? They didn’t have a why that night, but quickly found out the next day. “We got our ‘Why’ the next day. We found out we were pregnant and having a son,” Mac said. The two considered Ambit a gift from God just like the gift of their son.

There are many of the Alfano’s achievements worth noting. They’ve received the SC Dream Team award and the Pure Energy award. The Comma Club is another one, but even with all of the success it wasn’t always an easy road. “We had a mix of reactions from friends and family. That’s okay. Not everyone gets it,” Christina said.

There was a point where they almost quit. They even called to cancel their website. “They told me that I’d paid for the website the day before, so I decided to give it another shot,” Christina said. That other shot led to their move to the next level in six days. That phone call to cancel the website was quickly forgotten as they started their climb to the role of Executive Consultant.

The Alfano’s believe their story isn’t special or uncommon. They use their road to EC to inspire their team. “Becoming an EC is an asset to them because it proves it can be done. If we can do it, then they can do it too” Marc said.

Golden Nuggets:
Watching the business impact the lives
Committed to coming to the meeting
FREEDOM
Personal Development – It’s how I think
Finding out what people want
Pattern Interrupt
The company you keep is important

In this episode of Ambit Energy's Ambitious 50, we interviewed Executive Consultant, Pure Energy Award winner and a gentleman that has obtained financial freedom, Jay Emma.

Jay has always been an entrepreneur. He started his business pursuits at 17 years old when he started a cleaning company which cared for cars, boats, and planes. After that he worked 5 years as a financial planner and then started training / consulting for small business owners, which he still does part time (because of his success in Ambit).

“When my good friend Bill asked me to become his customer with Ambit, I said ‘yes’ immediately, and he explained there was a way to make money. After being resistant at first, the two things that impressed me about Ambit, to quote my friend Frank Nagel, are ‘We do two things. We gather a handful of loyal customers and we help others do the same thing’.

Because of Bill .....I’m hopeful that my financial future is very bright and Ambit is a big part of that story.”

It All Comes Together
One of the things Jay likes best about Ambit is watching his hard work and initial investment pay off. “It took me 11 months to assemble a team and gather my first 1,000 customers, but only 10 weeks to reach 2,000 customers, and thousands of customers have come in since then!” he says. He already has an Executive Consultant in his downline, has been featured in Success From Home Magazine, and, in 2012, received the Pure Energy Award at AMBITION.

For Jay, Ambit has provided him with all the tools he needed to succeed. “I have always been aware of my talents in terms of working with people; I just lacked the right opportunity. I’m amazed to this day by the support I have been given in Ambit.”

A Bright, Shiny Future
While Jay is excited to have become an Executive Consultant, he’s even more excited about his future. “I am committed to imparting the knowledge and experience I have to help maximize the results of people on my team” he says. “As an Executive Consultant, my opportunities to serve people will grow. I hope I can be an example and a friend to the people who want to share their journey with me.”

He also has what he considers four key pieces of advice for new Consultants. “First, be clear about your why and revisit it often. Second, build a strong list of names. Don’t prejudge people—show everyone! Third, enjoy the process of sharing the business without trying to ‘get’ people. Finally, never quit! Get plugged into your system and don’t let go.”

For Jay, Ambit is truly an opportunity to be part of shaping the principles and practices of one of the best and brightest companies in the world.

Rick and Jen Vahl’s Ambit experience began with a trip to Atlantis. Not the lost continent, but the resort in the Bahamas. Rick had earned a trip for his outstanding performance as a top beverage sales leader. Unfortunately, during the trip there was a lot of conversation about how bad business was and how his employer might have to lay people off.

Realizing that they may not be able to count on Rick’s job or Jen’s job in banking, the couple considered options for other career alternatives. Shortly after they returned from their trip, the Vahl’s learned about Ambit from their friends Steve and Connie Sunday. They signed up as Consultants in October of 2011, and in November got word that the company Rick worked for had been sold. For the Vahls, the Ambit opportunity had certainly surfaced at exactly the right time!

Building A Business And Raising Their Daughter Cortney
The Vahl’s knew that making Ambit work for them would take a certain amount of their time, time that might interfere with their attending their teen-age daughter’s many activities. “We sat down with her and showed her the business and what we are working for her and our future,” Rick says. “She not only understood, she wanted to join!” While college will be a priority for their daughter, she is definitely going to be a successful Ambit consultant as she is a regional as of today.

“When we first started, we wanted to earn back our initial investment,” Jen says. “Then it was off and running. After two or three months, we realized it’s not just about money. It’s about helping people, meeting people and showing others how to do the same.”

For the Vahl’s Ambit has created a sense of peace-of-mind, knowing there will be enough money for their daughter’s future. And there’s been another, unexpected bonus. “I had no idea working with my spouse would be so much fun,” Rick says.

Thanks to Ambit, the Vahl’s see a bright future. “We are becoming debt-free, and creating enough income to help our daughter make her dreams come true. Most of all, we will help others achieve their goals,” Rick says.

The Vahl’s have tips for Consultants seeking to emulate their success. “Be teachable, coachable and a good follower. Get to every training, every out-of-town event,” Jen recommends. “Sponsor, sponsor, sponsor. Then come out and ask those who are working the business if they truly want to be Executive Consultants. Pick who you want to mentor and work your tail and theirs off,” adds Rick.

Now that they’ve achieved EC, the Vahl’s expect to travel across Ambit states to build their business and help others reach their dreams. Their journey to success.

Birds of a feather

Enthusiasm – God Within

Quality Time – Belly to Belly

Have you ever dreamed

Lane is a nationally acclaimed public speaker and trainer with over 20 years experience in the Direct Sales industry.

Lane’s career began in 1989 when he became one of the original founding independent representatives with Dallas based, “Excel Telecommunications Inc.”. Lane was Excel’s first Executive Director & National Trainer. Due to Lane’s major, and early on contribution to Excel’s success, a new position was created in the marketing plan by Excel’s President and CEO Mr. Kenny Troutt. Mr. Troutt promoted Lane as the first Presidential Director of Excel. Lane toured the United States for 3.5 years, and was very instrumental in establishing new markets.

Lane’s contribution certainly played a role in Excel becoming the first company at that time to achieve the goal of a billion dollars in annual growth and eventually becoming the 4th largest long distance company in America. Excel went public on the New York Stock Exchange and two thousand millionaires were created through the unique concept of joining Network Marketing and Long Distance Service. All of this would not have been possible except for the deregulation of the telecommunications industry in the early 80’s allowing free competition to take hold.

Lane repeated his success in the newly deregulated electricity market as a Founding National Consultant and National Trainer for Ambit Energy. Ambit is a Retail Electric & Natural Gas Provider located in Dallas Texas. Lane joined Ambit Energy in October of 2006 to help the company achieve their goal of becoming the largest provider of residential and commercial energy services in the nation. Already an emerging giant in the energy business, Ambit Energy was listed by Inc. Magazine as the fastest growing privately held company in America for 2010. Since then the company has continued to grow by over 400%.

Lane’s early contribution to the company has not only played a role in Ambit Energy’s success but has also allowed him to pursue a life time goal as a Motivational Speaker, Trainer and Success Coach. The pursuit of Lane’s personal goals could only be possible because of the unique residual compensation plan offered by Ambit Energy. Lane says, “That’s what the Ambit Energy financial opportunity is all about, building a protected residual income for life to pursue your personal goals, dreams and aspirations.”

In addition to being a Motivational Speaker, Lane is an accomplished musician, singer/songwriter and contemporary artist.
